Music

The Arts are very important at Westleigh St. Paul’s as they provide children with key skills for the future as well as experiential learning. Music is an integral part of this through listening and appraising, creating and playing pieces to performing for others.

We follow the National Curriculum through the Charanga scheme which is mapped out over the years as part of the Learning Challenge curriculum.

Key skills are also taught as well as learning about famous composers and pieces of music. Progression skills documents ensure skills are built upon and provide learning links between each year group.

We believe the vision from The Power of music to Change Lives (June 22) matches ours which is “to enable all children and young people to learn to sing, play an instrument and create music together, and have the opportunity to progress their musical interests and talents, including professionally.”
